Dual-accredited by the American Psychological Association and Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine
VISION STATEMENT

Program Description
The Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center Clinical Health
Psychology (CHP) Postdoctoral Fellowship is a two-year, APA- and SBSM-accredited
program offering advanced training in CHP based on the scientist-practitioner model with
a specialty emphasis in behavioral sleep medicine. Fellows develop expertise in
evidence-based assessment, intervention, consultation, program development, and
applied research to prevent and mitigate health threats to military readiness. Training
emphasizes interprofessional collaboration and provides extensive experience in
behavioral sleep medicine, health behavior change, and the prevention and management
of chronic illness (e.g., chronic pain, weight management difficulties, and cardiovascular
disease). Fellows also supervise psychology residents and contribute to teaching, program
evaluation, and leadership development. Graduates are prepared for board certification in
Clinical Health Psychology through the American Board of Clinical Health Psychology
and are uniquely positioned to advance both military readiness and population health.
